Sadyo Virechana: 4-Day Ayurvedic Quick Purgation Program
Sadyo Virechana at Ayurhitam is a 4-day classical Ayurvedic quick purgation program. Priced at $500, this shorter version of Virechana is designed for seasonal balance, acute Pitta concerns, or as a lighter maintenance program between full Panchakarma cycles. Sadyo means “immediate” or “same day,” and describes the compressed timeline of this program compared to the full 13-15 day Panchakarma Virechana.
Sadyo Virechana is often chosen by Bay Area clients who want the Pitta-clearing benefits of Virechana but on a more accessible timeline, especially at seasonal transitions (particularly spring to summer, when Pitta naturally rises). It is also chosen for acute Pitta concerns like sudden acid reflux flare-ups, seasonal skin flare-ups, or short-term hormonal imbalance patterns.
What is Sadyo Virechana?
Sadyo Virechana is the classical Ayurvedic quick purgation program described in traditional texts as a shorter, more accessible version of full Virechana. Instead of the 7-day Snehapana (internal oleation) phase of full Panchakarma, Sadyo Virechana uses a compressed 2-day preparation, followed by 1 main Virechana day and 1 recovery day. The core Virechana procedure is the same, but the preparation and recovery are shortened.
Because the preparation is shorter, Sadyo Virechana is appropriate for less deep-seated concerns, seasonal maintenance, or for clients who have already completed a full Panchakarma Virechana in the past and want a lighter maintenance program. It is not recommended for very chronic, deep-seated Pitta imbalances where full Panchakarma Virechana is more appropriate.
The 4-Day Program at Ayurhitam
- Day 1: Preparation Begins: Deepana-Pachana herbs to kindle digestive fire. Light dietary shift. Abhyanga (oil massage) and Swedana (herbal steam) begin. Home practices and dietary guidance shared.
- Day 2: Preparation Continues: Continued preparation with Abhyanga, Swedana, and specific herbs. Light Sattvic diet. Assessment of readiness for the main Virechana day.
- Day 3: Main Virechana Day (Pradhan Karma): The main Virechana medicine is administered in the morning under practitioner supervision. Multiple bowel movements clear accumulated Pitta and ama. Complete rest through the day. Warm water, specific herbal support, and close monitoring.
- Day 4: Recovery: Gentle recovery with warm rice gruel (Peya), rebuilding of Agni through the Samsarjana Krama, and post-therapy consultation to plan the next 2-3 weeks of lifestyle adjustment.

Who is Sadyo Virechana For?
Sadyo Virechana is best suited for clients with mild-to-moderate Pitta imbalance, or as maintenance for those who have completed a full Panchakarma Virechana in the past.
